What are grants?

Grants are funds available to help pay for educational expenses which do not need to be repaid. There are federal and state grants available, and eligibility is based on financial need.

How can I get a grant?

Once you have completed the FAFSA, your eligibility for grants will be determined.

What kinds of grants are available?

There are several types of grants available to Lake Land College students. They are:

• Federal Pell Grant
  The Federal Pell Grant is the largest source of financial assistance for LLC students. The grants range from $976 to $5,350 for the academic year depending on financial need and hours of enrollment.
• Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG)
  FSEOG is a campus-based award program designed to supplement Pell Grant funds for students with the greatest financial need. Grants are $400, and priority is given to those students who apply by May 1.
• Illinois Monetary Award Program (MAP) Grant
  MAP is awarded by the Illinois Student Assistance Commission (ISAC) to residents of Illinois. Students automatically apply for the MAP grant by submitting the FAFSA. MAP can only be used to pay tuition and certain fees. MAP grants are contingent on State funding, so it is very important to apply for financial aid early.
