Email #1 on Recruiting Tips-A

How to email a College Coach and LLC Recruiting Strategy
Every day my fellow college coaches and I receive several emails with resumes, videos from players, coaches and parents telling us how much they want to come to play at our college. Or send me their tournament schedules asking us to come watch them play. The problem with these emails is one; the total volume of which we all get and second; is that they all sound the same. Then throw in the fact the skills video they sent did the player more harm than good. I don’t think players, coaches and parents do enough home work before they send us their recruiting email. My first two years as a college coach was at Heartland College where Coach Shea Wesley and I had the privilege to start the softball program from scratch. In the very first year Heartland ever had a softball team we finished 3rd at the national tournament and in their second year Heartland won the national tournament. From there I came to Lake Land College where we have won two conference championships, a Regional Championship and last year finished fifth at the national tournament. I would like to say that we did all this because I was a great coach but in reality is has been because of good recruiting. My wife Kathy and I have 4 kids that all played either college softball or baseball so I understand recruiting from a parent perspective. I coached high school and every age level of travel so I understand it as a coach and from the players view point. The recruiting process is not an exact science and there is no magic formula for it. Why one college looks at one player and another one looks at a different one or why one kid chooses one school another picks a different school still baffles me. Below you will find information on “How to Email a College Coach” as well as our “LLC Recruiting Strategy”  we use here at Lake Land College. Hopefully this information will give you a better understand of the recruiting process making your recruiting more successful at what ever college you are looking at. If you fine this information helpful and would like me to email other recruiting hints at no cost just send me an email letting me know. I will be happy to include you on a weekly email with recruiting tips. You can also get more recruiting information by attaining one of our up coming LLC winter softball camps which can be found on the Lake Land College athletic website.
