The Laker Cheerleaders are off to a great start. The squad of 18 performed at Relay for Life of Coles County and ran the games for the event. Everyone had a great time and it was such a good feeling to help such a worthy cause. On September 15th they started bright and early with a performance and demo at the Special Olympics Family Festival at Lake Land College. This is absolutely the most fun event for the cheerleaders and the Olympians! Dancing with the Olympians and teaching them a sideline cheer was great.
Then they drove to Effingham to take part in Mid-America Motor Works Corvette Fun Fest which attracts Corvette enthusiast from all around the nation! The cheerleaders were given several jobs and served as workers for the day. Several of them participated in a fashion show. By the time everyone gathered to help people entering the gate for the concert, several of the cheerleaders took the opportunity to try new stunts! A great time was had by all and Mid-America has asked us to come back again next year!!!
Our next performance will be October 1st at Busch Stadium, just before the Cardinals vs. Reds game. We are selling tickets for the baseball game for $30.00 each which is almost half off the retail price. If you would like to purchase tickets, call coach Tammy at 217-234-5566 or email at: tboeser@lakeland.cc.il.us.
