Anti-Bias Education Committee releases its Mission Statement (November 19, 2004): This ad hoc committee was formed after Krista Burrell, counselor, attended a three-day “Stop the Hate” training exercise (sponsored by Campus Pride, a nonprofit organization) in the fall of 2004. It was intended to educate and promote issues of diversity and acceptance to all members of the LLC community, as well as offer an outlet for victims to report incidences. Initially, the group focused on surveying students and LLC employees, investigating similar initiatives at other schools, and producing a mission statement. Later, the committee produced strategic plans, prepared celebrations of various cultures, and presented diversity training programs.
