Human Services Program - Online Handbook - Student Dismissal

Student can be dismissed from the program if there is a failure to meet one or more of the following standards:

• No felony convictions during time in program
• Maintaining at least a 2.0 GPA in all course work
• Maintaining high integrity; maintaining professional standards at all work sites, following the Code of Ethics.
• Minimal Absences
• Successful, timely completion of internship

Students will be counseled at the first indication of problems in any area. Appointments will be scheduled by the Program Coordinator.

Background Checks

It is important for you to know that many internship sites will need to do a background check on you before they will accept you as an intern. Some internship sites that do background checks include; DCFS, schools, social service agencies, correctional facilities, hospitals and police stations. These background checks may consist of drug testing, obtaining prior police records and checking for a history of child abuse or neglect. Some sites may require that an intern be at least 21 years of age.
